● Describe your process of selecting the current trend or solution that you would like to implement within your organization.
Having worked several years now in the Ophthalmology field, I tend to be very observant of changes and trends that develop within the field. So, with this said, my process of selection simply derives from being active and “live” in the field on a day to day basis. Our company provides an employee portal and newsletters with various happenings in Ophthalmology. I read every bit of these communications as they are published. I absorb this new knowledge and contemplate how I can help in making them active in the actual field. I communicate these ideas with my Regional Manager and the Management Team at the actual location.
● Share at least 3 of the most useful resources that you have found for identifying current trends in the health care management industry.
Through the years, I tend to browse the internet for some of the most up-to-date articles that provide valuable information of current and upcoming trends in my field. I tend to veer my interest more to the websites that continuously update their information. With so many changes occurring in the medical field, it is important to me to visit the websites that provide the most current trends and solutions. One of the sites I frequent is called medgadget.com. This site keeps very current on the latest technology changes in Ophthalmology. Another website I refer to quite often is called opros.com. This site is an actual branding site that stays current on their technology that takes 3D imagery of the eye and provides real-time imagery for Ophthalmologists to review. Finally, another website I visit frequently is called gavinpublishers.com. This site stays very current with articles and journal publications on the latest and greatest in Ophthalmology. Please see references section for full information of each.
● Identify at least 2 resources that you reviewed but chose not to use.
With so many valuable resources readily available to everyone, there are times when some provide bits and pieces of useful information; however, I choose not to use them for they lack in updating information frequently. One of these sites I visit from time to time is called ophthalmologyweb.com. The site is very useful; however, long periods of time pass by with no current, trending updates. As I mentioned prior, trends and solutions occur almost daily, so, the articles and journals on this website become dated rather quickly. Another site that is useful but doesn’t update as much as I think they should is called prcclinical.com. I enjoy this site for it publishes various clinical trials relating to Ophthalmology; however, the published journals posted are from several months prior. Please see references section for further details.
● Indicate how you decided what was a good resource and what was not.
Again, as I stated above, I decide the good vs. bad of resources based on frequency of updated material posted to their site. Rapidly changing trends and solutions in the medical field are imperative in order to keep medical professionals on top of the evolution. Dated material can be useful for archival information; however, staying afloat of the most current information is the most important key component.
