Nosocomial infection is a type of infection in human which he/ she acquires the infection from a hospital, nursinghome, health cilincs. For these reason it is also termed as a HEALTHCARE ASSOCIATED INFECTION OR HEALTHCARE ACQUIRED INFECTION OR HAI.

Many bacteria, fungi, parasite are responsible for it but more than 90% case are done by bacteria. There is a vatiety of infection that can be caused when someone admits to hospital such as pneumonia, urinary tract infection , TB etc.

There are a few factor which causes the disease in the paitient in hospital which are follows.

1. There are so many disease in hospital and somany pathogens. If hospital is not cleaned properly it become the host of these pathogen. When a person came in contact they get the infection. So unclear hospital leads to nosocomial infection.

2. In hospital there are airconditions in the ICU rooms. Water store on those air conditioners are a good source of bacteria and virus and it can be easily spread.

3. Contaminated matterials of surgery is one of the reason of this infection.

4. Nosocomial infection can also be spread through air droplets. So unuse of face mask , hand gloves are also a reason.

5. The bed sheet , pillow of a paitent is also lead to nosocomial infection if it is not cleaned properly everyday.

6. Ventilator pnumonia is another type of nosocomial type of infection. The pathogen get stored on the ventilator tube and when the ventilator tube is given to patient the bacteria easly infect the lungs.

7. Catheter is most common in hospital . And it is another source of the infection. Catheter allows the bacteria to enter the bladder which may cause urinary tract infection.

8. Our skin is the first line of defence against the invading pathogen. After a surgery the skin is broken , if not clean and dressed properly it can lead to the nosocomial infection.

The infection which is acquired in hospital is the nosocomial infection. So the above maintain factors are responsible for the infection.
