Expert Solution

When people discuss globalization and the environment, the pro-globalization people argue that it is spreading the positive message of using eco-friendly products and services. They say that globalization brings the nations together and they can provide newer technologies to each other and follow the newer trends in the market. The new trend concerning the environment is the production of eco-friendly products. It is claimed that the production of these products does not cause harm to the environment and thus, it is said to be eco-friendly. With the rise of globalization, more people can get access to such products. It is so because such products may be produced by some countries while others may lack the technology or other resources which are needed for the production of these products. Globalization allows ease in international trade and thus, the countries which cannot produce eco-friendly products can have access to these. This will help in reducing the harm caused to the environment all over the world.

On the other hand, the anti-globalization people argue that globalization is leading to the depletion of the environment. They say that globalization is leading to an increase in demand for various products and services and thus, the production has to be increased. The increased production leads to the exploitation of more resources and the emission of more wastage from the factories. Industrial waste is taking the lives of organisms and causing pollution. Human beings are also affected due to it as they face breathing problems and skin infections due to this. Since globalization increases international trade, the increased demand has to be satisfied across the boundaries as well. Companies transport their products more frequently. The increase in transportation is leading to increased consumption of fuels which is an important and scarce element of the environment. The fuels are non-renewable resources and thus, its continuous exploitation can severely affect the ecological cycle.
