1) What in your opinion are the three major causes of employee turnover
2) Do you think that downsizing can always be avoided?
3) What alternative strategies are there to downsizing?
1) employee turnover refers to rate of churn, or the number of employees leaving the organisation frequently. The reasons or causes of employee turnover in my opinion are as follows:
* Unhealthy work environment. (Unfair treatment, conflicts, and other issues with the firm or management could lead to high employee turnover.)
* Dissatisfaction on the job. (Caused by various reasons viz, unfair treatment, low pay, demotivation, workload, stress, etc)
* No growth opportunities to develop career. (Employees won't stay longer in any organisation where they are not provided with growth opportunities.)
2) downsizing is a process of cutting down the workforce to reduce costs and keep the operations effective. It can be avoided in many circumstances but not always, Because an organisation may require downsizing in severe cases like crisis, financial downturn, restructuring, environmental factors influence, etc.
3) alternative strategies to downsizing vary with the situations an organisation is facing, these involves:
* Transfer of the employee to other regions.
* Temporary layoffs.
* Contacting other companies as a consultant for providing workforce.
* Cutting the pay rate.
* Eliminating some benefits.
* etc.
