Expert Solution

14) The question asked is which one of the following is not advantage of membrane concentration over evaporation,

According to option A) membrane process are very hardly staged and the scale up of the process also cannot be done efficiently. hence it is a disadvantage over evaporation.

According to option B) in most of the membrane processes the common problem that one faces is fouling of the membrane. Due to fouling which is not easy to remove, the rate of permeation of the membrnes greatly decreases.

According to option C) the process of membrane seperation has always less consumption of energy when compared to evaporation, due to the steam that has to be used in the evaporators.

Thus option A) is the right answer according to the theory membrane seperations.

15)

Ultra filtration is process which lies in the range between micro filtration and nano filtration. the pore size of the    membranes used for ultrafiltration varies from 0.05m to 1.5nm.

The application of ultrafiltration includes the seperation of molecular components from low molecular components and mostly found in the fields of food and dairy industries, pharmaceutical industry, concentration and recovery of whey proteins and egg products.

Thus we can say that ultrafiltration is usually used to seperate proteins.

One advantage to being small is that it is easier to cool off after exertion than if you are large. For example, hummingbirds generate a lot of heat as their wings beat quickly, but they can cool off very quickly in response. (The flip side is, it is harder to stay warm when the air temperature is low.) In this problem we will develop a simple model of the smallest shrew and a polar bear cooling off. We will model...
