Basophils release histamines as a part of inflammatory response.
Histamines are mediators of inflammatory responses. They are nitrogenous compounds released by basophils and mast cells they tend to increase permeability of the blood vessels causing vasodilation. They are released when degranulation takes place in mast cells and basophils in response to an allergen.
Natural Killer cells are the lymphocytes that lack antigenic specificity.
There are three cells that have lymphoid origin. They are T cells, B cells and NK cells. Unlike T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes NK cells lack specific antigenic receptors to recognize specific antigens. They contribute to innate immunity whereas T and B cells contribute to adaptive immunity.
Natural Killer Cells play role in Antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity.
The antibody bound to the infected host cell show Fc binding region that produces signals which is subsequently recognized by the NK cells. They mediate cytotoxic effects on these cells eventually killing them.
B-cells are antigen presenting cells that produces antibodies.
Antigen presenting cells are group of cells that can internalize an antigen by endocytosis or phagocytosis and express a molecule on their surface thereby stimulating the responses of T cells to recognize. B cells Macrophages and dendritic cells are some APCs. B lymphocytes are also specialized for producing antibodies in response to an antigen.
Macrophages found in tissues play a role as scavenger and sentry.
Macrophages are cells that are known to exhibit phagocytosis; they engulf a whole cell and lyse them. They also use this mechanism to scavenge dead cells and debris. There are specialized pattern recognition receptors called scavenger receptors on their surface which is involved in binding to pathogens or dead cells internalizing and to lyse them.
