Three factors that impact an individual’s performance in a workplace setting are:

JOB FIT
Job fit or how qualities and matched an individual is with their role and responsibility in the company can be considered to be the best possible consideration that might affect performance.

MORALE AND COMPANY CULTURE
While morale can be directly correlated to performance, the fact that culture has a large influence over it means that we can consider both the factors as one.

CLEAR GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS
Having clear goals both from the employee and the company would mean that there would be lesser ambiguity with requirements and the fact that the individual knows this means that they are more inclined to connect with the vision the company holds.

Management and leadership are the biggest factors that impact these values. We need to consider that the company’s culture is not just its shared values, rather, the underground on how an individual fits within the organization and therefore, cannot be considered to have minimal impact on employee behavior and performance. How the leadership and management activities to counter the negative values of the culture and introduce positive changes impact employees the most. There are also considerations over the HRM to recruit individuals most suited to the position even from the very beginning.


While the pandemic has brought a large number of changes, the biggest is the lack of cultural influences over the individual due to not being in constant contact with one’s peers. The fact that the pandemic has created larger variables in terms of job fit and increased the possibilities over individuals can create a large deficit in their ability to perform. We can also say that the large ambiguity surrounding the current goals is high because it is not about sustainability anymore, it might also be about survival, introducing a large set of variables into the equation, and impacting the performance as a result.
