Explain the concept of Data Flow Diagram and also state the different types of flow charts?
Data flow diagrams are the main tool for analysing and designing the information systems.
It displays the working and development of information system. It also shows the interactions between the system and their sources the data flow . It is a hierarchial model as the each process is divided into the structural components and it also give the relation between them.
It is used for
A) data management
B) modelling process aspects
C) overviewing of the system
The other types of flowcharts are:
1) Basic Flowchart
It is the simplest form of a diagram which shows the execution of the problem step by step. It is the lowest level of the model used in the making of business model description
It is used in different areas of knowledge like
A)planning a new project
B) to represent a process
C)to give the solution of a problem
2) cross Functional Flowchart
It is also known as Deployment Flowchart
It shows the detailed procedure of business processes, the people involved in it and the interactions between them.
It is very simple and useful as it is a detailed one
3) Swimlane Flowchart
It is used for documenting the business processes i.e allocation of duties among workers and department.
It is used to organize the activities in separate categories in a specific order.
4) Process flow Diagram
It is one of the flowchart that depicts the high level processes in industries like the chemical Industry and process engineering
It focuses only on the major processing of plants .
It shows single or multiple processes the diagram showing the multiple processes is known as schematic flow diagram or block flow diagram.
5) Workflow Chart
It shows the functions of business
It is used to train the new employees as it shows clarified business processes.
