What does trade secret law protect?
Trade Secret Law protects a type of intellectual property named trade secret. It may include any information, method, technique, formula of performing a task which is developed by the holder of trade secret and is unique. This trade secret provides a competitive advantage to the person or company who uses this. Thus in order to protect the holder of trade secret from misappropriation of its information by competitiors, we have trade secret law. Unlike other intellectual property rights like patents, trade marks etc. a company is not supposed to disclose its trade secrets to anyone not even to government at the time of registering and they are protected against leakage of this information by allowing them to not to disclose their trade secret to anyone.
For example, KFC a fast food chain having a particular recepie for its food items can get those recepies protected under law named as trade secret protection as this recepie is something which is created by them and it provides them an advanatge over competitors.
