CH 9.4-- Energy Management System software is a computer aided tool used by operator of electric utility grids to monitor efficiency, performance of generation and transmission system. Energy Management System are also used by individual commercial to monitor measure, control building electrical loads. Energy Management System provides Dispatcher training simulator for training tool for control center operations.
CH 9.5---Monitoring real time online proceesis possible due to synchro phasor and wide area monitoring syatsy, synchro phasor based applications such as phase angle monitoring, voltage stability, in line thermal monitoring etc possible. First concept of wide area monitoring system was proposed in 1980 and first commercial software tool was available in 1990s. The benefits of WAMS is collecting data and analysing it offline for various purposes, but monitoring real time power system is great achievement, in which one can better understand the system and if there is any problem remedial can be found. This not only helps in system performance but provides data security as well.
CH 9.6: smart grid used by power companies for transmission of power from one point to another is very efficient and low cost. Nowadays power companies are using different sensor or different technologies which are connected with ethernet, by using telecommunications power companies able to monitor or operate all these process easily from remote location. Which is very important for fast moving world, working manually is not possible if large area is considered therefore telecommunications systems plays very important role in power system.
CH9.7: Modern world is known known for fast data transmission, same thing nowadays used by power companies to handle big transmission line, digital substation operated by telecommunications network, monitoring of all these substation from remote location. Automation such as PLC(programmable Logic Controller), SCADA, HMI capable of operating large number of equipment or device from single base station computer. Digital network, automation is fast moving technology capable of replacing all manual technology. By using such digital technology efficiency of process increases, security of data increases, less wiring, fast data operation etc is possible.
