Design a clamp circuit to clamp the negative extreme of a periodic input waveform of 10 sin(100????)?? to -5V. Use 1 diode, 1 Zener diode, 1 resistor and 1 capacitor of suitable values. Assume a 0.6V forward drop for all diodes and that the Zener diodes have an ideal characteristic in the breakdown region. Power supply voltages of ±15V are available.

Solutions

Expert Solution

sol) Clamper is a DC resoter, it will not effect the shape of the input but it shifts the d.c level, to the desired place.

as we need to clamp the -ve extreem peak of input to -5V, connect the circuit as shown below

here for the input the -ve extreem peak is -10V, after applying the input to the clamper ciruit, the signal will be

clamped to -5V. the output signal is exist between -5V and 15V

to shift the dc level to -5V down, consider the fallowing circuit

Briefly describe (10 to 15 sentences) how an analog oscilloscope displays a periodic waveform. Assume the trigger is set to the same channel as the periodic waveform being displayed. Be sure to clearly describe the relationship between the trigger, oscillating signal, and CRT sweep rate. The reader should have a good idea why a periodic waveform appears stationary on the oscilloscope. You can sketch diagrams if that helps your explanation.
