The textbook implies that those born into homes with few resources are likely to stay in the lower quintiles of income. Do you believe the reasons for this are rooted in a lack of opportunity imposed by society or a lack of successful models in their environment? Explain. Make sure you give me 200 words thanks
Yes, this is true. This idea is supported by the concept of social reproduction that had originally been put forward by Karl Marx. According to this concept, there is transmittence of social inequality that takes place from one generation to the other. This idea was also put forward and elaborated by Pierre Bourdieu. He suggested that there are four reasons that would be contributing to the idea of socially reproduction. These ideas could be elaborated through capital that includes cultural capital, human capital, Financial capital and the more interesting social capital. These four types of capital identify if an individual can move on from one class to the other. Four example the offspring of a person from the working class would very seldom think of trying to open their own business. They would mostly try to look for a job that would be stable and ensure regular income, more than that of the parents. Alternatively, the child of a parent Who has originally been built up in business class family would not think of working under another person. Also, they would inherit from their parent that would enable them to start a new business, without the fear of loss.
A person from class family does not have resources to open a new business entirely and due to lack of resources refrain from starting a new venture. Also, in many cases, due to lack of resources from the parents offspring is not is not able to complete his education which prevents them from moving further and getting high-paying jobs
