Describe the shikimic acid pathway? Where is it used?
The starting point for the majority of plant phenolics that are derived from phenylpropanoid precursors is the shikimic acid pathway. This pathway leads to the production of aromatic amino acid, phenylalanine, from which the first phenylpropanoid, cinnamic acid, can be formed.
