Yes, we see a transition where most of the behavior is becoming less acceptable among these generations. For example:
1. Millennial or people belonging to Generation X are feedback oriented & believe autonomy while doing work whereas Boomer are procedural oriented & want to manage things & their employees.
2. Zoomers are easy going & competitive in nature. They are practical & value money before spending whereas Millennials are collaborating in nature & want experience based products.
3. Generation X are also more loyal to their skill than they are to their employer whereas Baby Boomers can sacrifice their personal preferences for the benefit of the company & they follow company norms.
4. Millennials & Generation X people value work– life balance & believe productivity matters more than time spent working whereas Boomers believes in time spent while working & opposite to all Zoomers are easy going & free flow people.
These divisions occur at every generation except Generation X & Millennials. They both have somewhat similarities.
How do we communicate effectively across a generational gap where one generation accepts a behavior as "normal" and the other does not?
1. Learn before deal: To communicate effectively among various generations, one first need to understand & learn the behavior of generation before starting dealing with them.
2. Use Management by objective (MBO): Management by objective (MBO) is joint goal-setting technique opted by organizations. This technique tries to eliminate the various perceptional, personality & cultural barriers, and remove the bottleneck & problem which occurred during performance.
3. Setting Up Communication: Communication is way to reduce the gap between the ideologies & working style of different age groups. Therefore, to communicate effectively with diverse workforce establishing communication plays a key role. Communication helps to reduce perceptional biases among various age groups & their expectations. Effective communication system helps to eliminate the differences among the employees & helps to establish better relationship by encouraging mutual respect & trust among them.
4. Adopt Acceptable Behavior: One need to adopt acceptable behavior when talking with people belonging to different generation. To maintain equilibrium all the generations has to learn, think, understand & accept each other's perspective. For example: Generation X has to set their mind with a sense of acceptance when dealing with Zoomer or Millennials.
