How does independent variable differ from dependent variable? What is the relationship if any?
Difference between Independent variable and Dependent variable:
A variable is said to be independent ( also as the name suggests) whose change influence other variables are called Independent variables.
or in other words, an independent is one who remains unaffected due to any other variables.
The variable is said to be dependent(as the name suggests) if it gets changed due to some other variables.

Relation between Independent variable and Dependent variable:
A dependent variable depends on the indpendent variable.
If the value of independent variable changes then the value of the dependent variable will also change.
A dependent variable is the effect of change in the value of the independent variable.
There can be multiple dependent variables for one independent variable
An independent variable is a presumed value and dependent variable is observed effect.

Let's see an example:
Let take an equation be
Here we can see that there are two variables X and Y in which X is an independent variable and Y is a dependent variable.
As if we put the value of X in the equation then after we get the value of Y which actually depends on the value of X.

Let see another example:
Suppose if we're increasing the temperature of the microwave oven then it would take lesser time to cook the food.
Here, we can see that the time of cooking depends on the temperature of the oven.
Hence, we can say that here temperature is an independent variable while the time taken is a dependent variable.
