Let me share real life examples of positive and negative
resistance to change, these are as state below:
- Positive resistance to change: Organization should maintain a
process flow and continuity in their operations activities.
Frequently changing of such flow, Frequently changing definition
and practices of each process, bringing disrupting technology
within the current processes without understanding the current
situation and needs, there will be several severe impact on the
current situation, these impacts are sudden increase in cash
outflows, project may be terminated, project duration can be
increased, employees and staffs require training to adjust with
such sudden changes, termination of current resources. Etc. in such
situation, if employees are giving resistance to change, such
resistance can be considered as positive resistance to change and
change has several negative impacts.
- Negative Resistance to change: Many organizations are affected
with poor cultural issues. That could include Blame game, bullying
new comers, Giving more values to senior and no or least values to
Junior employees, don’t cooperate in any situations, No work
flexibility, etc. all such are common issues in corporate
industries or organizations. Some cases, changing initiatives are
implemented by leadership team or changing requests are upheld by
one side of employees and other or rest employees hardly put their
interest or they may put negative resistance as to maintain the
current status quo or to get benefitted from current situation or
they may be fear in implementing such changes.
