Business ethics means many different things to different people. If you are a manager with many new hires who do not have a business degree and have never studied what you have studied, how would you explain ‘business ethics in the workplace’ to these employees? If you must focus on two main points, what two points would you want these employees to understand and practice in their behavior at work?
To do everything in a proper way and manner there is a set of rules, norms , guidelines and policies available. Likewise Business is also a place where everything needs to be done in a proper way, we need to follow guidelines, rules, norms etc, this concept is termed as Business ethics. We as a employees of the organisation should know what is right and wrong, what is ethical and unethical , all these forms a part of our Business ethics. We should always keep in in mind that just doing good business where we are earning money is not enough, we need to do it ethically in a right manner. Strong business ethics help us to grow stonger professionally.
The two main points of business ethics we should always remember is-
Working together as a team- As an individual assignment is important, your team's whole prject is also important. We should always help our colleagues when we are having excess time. It is advisable to take up the ownership of the work and complete it with all you have, rather than waiting for someone to complete who is already struggling with some other work. Just remember you can grow larger if your team become large.
Timeliness- Time is one of the most important player in business. We should always value time. Completing your work in time, coming to office in time, attending meetings in time always leaves a positive impact on your career. Completing your work in time shows that your value other peoples time as well and keeps you way ahead of others. Focusing on Timeliness or being punctual helps you to become a key player in your team.
