How do you recognize real-world samples? please provide some examples

Sampling is the process whereby a researcher chooses her sample. This can be done in many ways like just get some people together, send out an email etc

Process:-

1. Identify the population of interest.
2. Specify a sampling frame. A sampling frame is the group of people from which you will draw your sample. For example, every student at the university where you works.
3. Specify a sampling method. There are basically two ways to choose a sample from a sampling frame: randomly or non-randomly.
4. select sample in order to get a demographic makeup that is closer to that of population.
5. Determine the sample size. In general, larger samples are better.

	All institutionalized elderly with Alzheimer's in St. Louis county nursing homes
	All people with AIDS in the metropolitan St. Louis area
	All low birth weight infants admitted to the neonatal ICUs in St. Louis city & county
	All school-age children with asthma treated in pediatric asthma clinics in university-affiliated medical centers in the Midwest
	All pregnant teens in the state of Missouri
