In detail describe the correct treatment for Hepatitis and peptic ulcers and explain why:
Hepatitis is the inflammation of the liver, Hepatitis can be caused by drugs, alcohol or other toxins, by infection with bacteria, viruses or parasites or autoimmune disease, most often it is caused by a viral infection. Treatment depends upon the type of virus .There are five main types of viral hepatitis — A, B, C, D and E. Of those, Hepatitis A, B and C are the most common types. Among these hepatitis A and hepatitis hepatits E resolves on its own, trreatment focuses on rest, supportive care and rehydration
Treatment : Blood test can determine if hepatits is acute or chronic, if it is acute it will go away on its own, you may not need treatment. Instead, your doctor might recommend rest, proper nutrition and plenty of fluids while your body fights the infection. In severe cases, antiviral drugs or a hospital stay is needed to prevent complications. Chronic infection and inflammation can lead to extensive scarring of the liver (cirrhosis) and impaired liver functions.Chronic hepatitis B infection need treatment for the rest of their lives. Treatment helps reduce the risk of liver disease and prevents you from passing the infection to others.
Antiviral medication, these medication can help fight the virus and slow its ability to damage your liver, depending upon the condition doctors might prescribe several of antiviral medication available, some of them are, tenofovir (Viread), lamivudine (Epivir), adefovir (Hepsera), etc.
Interferon injections are sometimes given.
If the condition is very severe, than liver transplant might be necessary.
Hepatitis B vaccination is also available, and it is 95 percent effective in preventing viral infections and its chronic consequences.
Peptic ulcer : Peptic ulcers are sores that develop in the lining of the stomach, lower esophagus, or small intestine. They’re usually formed as a result of inflammation caused by the bacteria H. pylori, as well as from erosion from stomach acids, frequent use certain drugs like asprin can also cause this. One of the most significant environmental factors in the development of peptic ulcer is infection with Helicobacter pylori.
H. pylori infections are usually treated with at least two different antibiotics at once, to help prevent the bacteria from developing a resistance to one particular antibiotic, The most important antibiotics in H. pylori treatment are clarithromycin, metronidazole, and amoxicillin. Treatment are given to decrease stomach acid production, Proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole (Prilosec), lansoprazole (Prevacid), could be given. Antacids that neutralize the stomach acid could be given. Histamine H-2 blockers could also be given.
