For California,

T = Total people murdered by Firearm = 1275

F = People murdered by Rifles = 34

Hence,

P = 34/1275 = 0.267 or 26.7%

Probability = Favourable Outcome (F)/Total Outcomes (T)

For Texas,

T = Total people murdered by Firearm = 906

F = People murdered by either Rifles or shotgun = 19 + 36 = 55

Hence,

P = 55/906 = 0.0607 or 6.07% ~6%

Probability of Murder by Rifle in California (P1) = 34/1861 = 0.0183 or 1.83%

Probability of Murder by Rifle in Texas (P2) = 19/1276 = 0.0149 or 1.49%
