EXERCISE- SQUAT

IT IS STRENGTH EXERCISE , DONE BY LOWERING hips from standing position then stand back

During the squat,

  • the hip and knee joints flex while the ankle joint dorsiflexes; while lowering down
  • conversely the hip and knee joints extend and the ankle joint plantarflexes when standing up.

steps of squat

  1. Start with your feet slightly wider than hip-width apart.
  2. Keep your chest up, engage your abdominals, and shift your weight onto your heels as you push your hips back into a sitting position.
  3. Lower your hips until your thighs are parallel or almost parallel to the floor.
  4. You should feel the squat in your thighs and glutes.
  5. Pause with your knees over, but not beyond, your toes.
  6. Exhale and push back up to the starting position

plane of movement on squat

hip joint movement

  • . 1.transverse - internal and external movement of hip
  • 2 sagittal - hip flexion and extension
  • 3 frontal - hip adduction and abduction

muscle involve is

  • GLUTEUS MAXIMUS
  • HAMSTRING

KNEE JOINT MOVEMENT

tibio femoral joint - hinge type joint in saggital plane, knee flexion occur

patello femoral joint - : gliding joint ,allow flexion and extension of the knee

muscle - quadriceps

ANKLE JOINT

Muscle involved is soleus and gastronemius

movement occur is dorsi-flexion and concentrically through plantar-flexion during dynamic movements.
