We know that like soluble in like so solvent selection is paramount step in extraction. For organic compounds different solvent used for extraction such as ethyl acetate ,dichlomethane , diethyl ether, Monochlorobenzene, toluene etc. But success of extraction depends on solubility of product in selected solvent and secondly small Washing but number of times .
Most of time dichloromethane selected over other options because , it is polar aprotic solvent . Effectively soluble variety of organic compound. At same time it is volatile ,so easily removed from target compound.
As per Le Chatelier principle ,constraints in system such as temperature ,pressure shifts equilibrium so we can effectively use such constraints to carry out our extraction process.of particular organic compound has low solubility at room temperature so you might be use temperature to shift equilibrium . Hence number of factors determine success of extraction.
Sometimes poor solubility compound may require more solvent (volume ) to carry out extraction.Acid base treatment commonly used for separation of compound by using separatary funnel .
Conclusion- Variety of organic compounds can isolate by using extraction technique.
1) Even separation of acid , base ,phenol and neutral compound achieved by using extraction technique.
2) Inorganic base, water effectively separate by this technique.
3) Reproducibility and time saving technique.
4) If proper solvent gets selected , distribution ratio of organic compounds gets managed , so you can.expect good result.
