You are walking down the street and are startled by a car which backfires in the street. Briefly describe the process of sensing and responding to this auditory stimulus. Be very specific about the efferent pathway that will be involved in your response. Include nervous system division, neurotransmitter(s) that will be utilized and stimulations of effector(s).
According to the several researches the science of hearing considered through the process of extracting and detecting vital information from the around pressure waves in the environment and these kind of pressure waves can generated by collisions or movements and it tells the person about the things happening in the environment. Generally the auditory system of an individual can segregate the sources of sounds and its surrounding sensors can receive the wave’s pressure. The sensors as these are made up of a combination of all concurrent sources and their various reflections. At first the auditory signals or reflections reached by the help of hair fibers of the cochlea and it later sends electrical signals to the auditory nerve and these impulses are transferred to the auditory center of the brain. The arrival of message triggers a reflex and causes to jump or turn the head. Thereafter the processing happens at the auditory cortex where the sound is consciously perceived and the voluntary actions are performed.
