What are probable healt effects of:
To children, average adults, and the elderly??
(include your sources)
1).Ozone can cause the muscles in the airways to constrict, trapping air in the alveoli. This leads to wheezing and shortness of breath.
Make it more difficult to breathe deeply and vigorously.Cause coughing and sore or scratchy throat.Aggravate lung diseases such as asthma, emphysema, and chronic broncitis.Make the lungs more susceptible to infection and Cause chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Children are at greatest risk from exposure to ozone because their lungs are still developing and they are more likely to be active outdoors when ozone levels are high, which increases their exposure.
2)Particle pollution is made up of a mixture of microscopic solids and liquid droplets suspended in air. This pollution is called particulate matter.
People with heart or lung disease, diabetics, older adults, and children are considered at greater risk from particulate matter pollution than other people, especially when they are physically active.
Short-term exposures to particles (hours or days) can aggravate lung disease, causing asthma attacks and acute bronchitis, and may also increase susceptibility to respiratory infections.
Long-term exposures, such as those experienced by people living for many years in areas with high particle levels, have been associated with problems such as reduced lung function, the development of chronic bronchitis, and even premature death.
3)A person who is exposed to lead over time may feel:Abdominalpain,Constipated,Depressed,Distracted,Forgetful,Irritable,Nauseous/Sick
People with prolonged exposure to lead may also be at risk for high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney disease, and reduced fertility.Generally, lead affects children more than it does adults. Children tend to show signs of severe lead toxicity at lower levels than adults. Lead poisoning has occurred in children whose parent(s) accidentally brought home lead dust on their clothing. Neurological effects and mental retardation have also occurred in children whose parent(s) may have job-related lead exposure.
