I have chosen the argument of global warming being a hoax. Global warming is the idea that earth’s atmosphere is being depleted due to increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. The antecedent argument supports the claim of global warming which is, if global warming is real, then the global temperatures will have risen. And that has happened, therefore, global warming is real. While I do believe we are leaving a carbon footprint I also believe that the world has been rising in temperature since the beginning, and that there is no way to stop this. We can only be mindful in the amount of contribution we have towards global warming. Therefore, the antecedent argument that is invalid would be, if we are experiencing cold weathers, then global warming is not true. However, cold weather can still occur during global warming, because the colder temperatures are based off of the position of the world to the sun (Shepherd, 2018).

There are two groups of people around the world on global warming. The first group believe that the global warming is real while the other group (often called anti environmentalists) believe that global warming is not real and the earth has its own way of healing itself. I believe that shepherd here is not fully true, partially he may be correct. it is true that global warming has have been occurring since past but we also need to understand that that time, our earth had large number of carbon sinks in the form of oceans and vegetations that we are lacking currently and also carbon sequestration was much more evident.

earlier, major source of carbon and other green house gases were volcanoes but now there are numerous sources. Also the current IPCC report gave lots of evidences showing that current global warming is quite rapid as compared to the earlier times. some of these evidences are as following -

1. 1940s and 1990s have been the hottest decade ever recorded due to world war 2 and globalisation which caused rapid increase in consumption of goods and increased industrialisation.

2. There has come about .6 degree celsius increase in the temperature since 1750 (industrial revolution) of which .4 degree celsius came only in the 20th century.

3. If we do not limit our carbon release up to 1.5 degree celsius of pre industrial level, it may cause deadly events like glaciers melting, heat waves, cold waves etc.

4. the current evidences of heat waves in Europe and Australia, disappearance of Okjakull in Iceland, drowning of cities can not be ignored.

Hence, we must understand that global warming is real and it is rapid since few decades. earth has its own way of healing only when anthropogenic activities do not disturb its way of healing but since we do so, earth can not heal it self and thus we have to take steps to solve the situation.
