Aerosol cans carry clear warnings against incineration because of the high pressures that can develop upon heating.
Suppose that a can contains a residual amount of gas at a pressure of 765 Torr and a temperature of 25 ∘C .
What would the pressure be if the can were heated to 1040 ∘C ?
I tried this answer and got 31824 torr. It says its not correct, it does want the answer in torr though. What am I doing wrong?
initial Final
T1 = 25+273 = 298K T2 = 1040+273 = 1313K
P1 = 765 torr P2 =
P1/T1 = P2/T2
P2 = P1T2/T1
= 765*1313/298 = 3370.62 torr
The pressure is 3370.62 torr >>>>answer
