How can the assumptions of a one sample t-test be verified?
Assumptions are:
Verification:
1) Level of Measurement
For this test, sample data should be numeric and continuous. If our data is continuous i.e, any real values then this assumption holds.
2) Independence
If the observations are selected using simple random sampling method especially of without replacement, then this assumption hold. We can also use non parametric test for randomness checking such as run test for the validation of this assumption
3) Normality
A lot of method is there to verify Normality assumption, among such methods the simplest one is histogram. If the histogram is approximately bell shaped symmetrical then Normality assumption holds
4) Outliers
Boxplot is a useful graphical tool will give Outliers. If none of the observations placed outside of boxplot guarantees this assumption.
