1) Henry Ford was a businessman, why and how he manages to develop mass production/assembly line?
Henry Ford was a businessman that recognized the need to have
processes standardized in order to cut down the time it took to
bring a final assembly process to completion. The assembly line
process was therefore created in order to manage resources and
human factors, in order of its requirement and correct sequencing
so that the least amount of time is wasted while the product moves
between the different stations while being assembled. He created a
sliding/moving assembly line process where when a part was
completed, the worker could drop it into a particular place every
time, from where it was carried to the next station. Using the
assembly line, Ford was able to cut down the assembly time for a
model T from 12.5 hours to 90 minutes, forever revolutionizing the
way the entire industry approached the process of assembly and
manufacturing. The considerations were made for repetitive work
requirements low to no customization, essentially being framed as a
low-skill job.
