Why are people having guns in the first place if they are illegal? This would leave people with less guns available to them and in my opinion decrease the amount of violence and increase the amount of safety for the people. Would you agree?
Yes, when there are laws to control the bearing of arms, the safety of people increases. The rationale behind this a look at statistics in countries like the United States where bearing arms is not illegal. According to the NYPD, there has been a 23% increase in gun-related shootings and murders in New York. Other states such as Milwaukee has seen a 13% increase from 82 to 95% in the homicides due to gun violence. The numbers have only been increasing in every other state due to a lack of gun reform.
When you consider other countries like Norway, Australia, the amount of gun violence is very low and they have been an example of safety due to their gun reforms and regulations. Countries like Scotland have seen a massive decline in murders and homicides with gun reform and it was in single digits last year. Since 1996, the homicidal rate has decreased from25 to less than 5 people in a year in Scotland. Similarly, Japan has also been an example of having less gun violence due to their laws. Therefore, the safety of people increases with proper gun regulations and control.
