Share an example of how an administrative healthcare professional may use knowledge of directional terms, planes, and regions of the human body in their position.
Anatomic terms describe the directions within the body as well as the body’s reference planes, cavities and regions.Standard anatomical terminology ensures that doctors and health proffesional have a common method of communicating, and to avoid confusion when identifying structures. it enables you to describe the locations of structures in relation to other structures or locations in the body. It is also helpful and used when discussing something in front of a patient in order to prevent undue anxiety, Using these terms would also serve to save enoromus amount of time.
The entire human body is divided into regions, known as regional anatomy, in order to avoid confusion, for example if there is injury to back side of the head, to describe such type of injury, they would use the term, there is injury in the occipital area, which is more precise than the common word such as ' back side of the head', or for that matter there is injury in the arm, than they would use the term, ' brachium' to describe that injury is in the upper arm and the term 'antebrachium' to describe that injury is in lower arm, simlarily femur or thigh for upper part of our leg and leg or crus is reserved for the portion of the lower limb between the knee and the ankle. Suppose there is injury closer to the surface of the body, than we would use the term, Superficial as opposed to deep.
Body planes are geometric planes used to divide the body into sections., the sagittal plane divides the body into right and left side, the coronal plane divides the body into anterior and posterior and transverse plane that divides the body into superior and inferior parts, these terms are often used to describe medical imaging such as CAT scans, PET scans and MRIs where the scans take pictures of the body in flat slices. Brain scans are often of sagittal plane slices (from ear to ear). Abdominal CAT scans are often transverse plane slices. By using these terms we can avoid errors and increase the accuracy.
