Almost all successful firms depend largely on the information system so that it can improve their productivity and efficiency by making the right decision in both structured and unstructured issues. The information system can be seen as a combination of different computers, people, databases, procedures, queries, and so on. The information system provides relevant and important inputs, characteristics, and data about the situation in hand. The decision-makers can analyze this information and data to make the most accurate decision. As an information system is quite important for effective decision making, the importance of it is increasing day by day
The information system can also be used to make an important decision related to process management and efficiency. The information system can collect a number of inputs about the processes and this information can be used to find out the efficiency and potency of the different processes. This will be helpful in managing the processes and improving the overall productivity of the information.
If a person is working at the managerial level, he has to take an operational and tactical decision and all these decisions can be supported by the information system. The basic objective of the information system is to facilitate the relevant data and inputs that can lay a solid foundation for decision making and correct the given problem.
Example= The operation manager might be having the problem of increasing inventory cost. he can collect the different data related to the inventory management, production level, and demand for the product. Depending on these information that is provided by the information system, the optimum level of inventory can be decided by the manager.
Example= The HR manager is worrying about the dropping performance level of the employees. He can use the information system to analyze the day to the day performance level of each employee and depending on these data, the HR manager can plan to perform a training session of those employees who are facing the issue of lower performance in the job
