what is the density of hexane-ethyl acetate (8:2 by volume) and what are the hazards of this solvent

Solutions

Expert Solution

8:2 by volume means 80% hexane and 20% ethyl acetate.

hexane density = 0.659 g/mL & ethyl acetate density = 0.902 g/mL

density varies with temperature and to be found experimentally (As you have not mentioned the temperature at where we have to found its density). Please measure density at your desired temperature (probably below or at STP ~ 298 K or below as these solvents have low boiling points as well as low melting points and prone to evaporate).

Extremely flammable. Danger to skin, lungs, eyes and any other exposed area of human body.
