In a recent study of Type 2 diabetics, 96 patients with Type 2 diabetes underwent this procedure and 77 of them experienced a recovery from diabetes. In another study of Type 2 diabetics, of 73 patients who changed their diet and began exercising, 45 recovered from diabetes. At the 0.05 level of significance we would like to examine if there is enough evidence to conclude that surgery was a superior treatment for diabetes than was diet/exercise.
