(Answer) J.S. Mill describes the principle of utility as an action that adds pleasure and subtracts pain to oneself and others involved in that particular circumstance.
Mill’s theory suggests that an action becomes right or the one with most utility when the best means are achieved. Therefore, the duty or obligation that gains the most utility, morality or happiness should be the idea to settle with.
For instance, a child named John would cry bitterly if his mother might take away his iPad. This is why John’s mother decides to let him watch his shows on the iPad, despite screen-addiction being bad for toddlers. John’s mother gets the most utility/satisfaction when John is sedentary.
