1.Describe three types of attention
deficits seen in children with ADHD, and provide an example of
each.
Three types of attention deficits in
children with adhd are:
- Inattention: this
is the condition where the child might get distracted along with
having extremely bad levels of concentration and skills of
organisation.
- Impulsivity: this
is the deficit where the child would constantly be taking risks or
may be interrupting regularly.
- Hyperactivity:
this is the condition where the child would not be slowing down.
They may constantly keep fidgeting and talking. It us very
difficult for them to stay on a single task.
2. There are four different stages
in which this could be considered.
- Infants: in pre
school age and in the early ages, there is increased amount of
hyperactivity, conduct problems and inattention.
- Middle childhood:
there will be trail of unfinished tasks, scattered clothes, toys
left where they were. With impulsivity, there would be frequent
arguments, disrupted meals and fights and relentless demands along
with sibling conflicts.
- Adolescence: there
will be symptoms of overactivity, as well as impulsivity. There
would be increased non disruptive problems also given with
depression or anxiety as well as oppositional behavior. There may
also be high rates of substance abuse. There may be increase
problems in schools.
- Adulthood: there
may be presence of other disorders such as bipolar disorders or
depression or anxiety.
