What should Johnson & Johnson do in China about the claims of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics?
Johnson & Johnson (J&J) should, with regards to the claims of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics in China, ensure that going forward it will comply with all the necessary laws and regulations with regards to safety of cosmetic products. It has been alleged in the claims that J&J uses cancer-causing ingredients in some of its products like its baby shampoos.
J&J should apologize to its consumers in China and should win back their trust by assuring them of stringent quality control measures to ensure that all future products being manufactured and sold by J&J is fully devoid of any harmful chemicals.
One of the claims of Campaign for Safe Cosmetics in China was the use of ingredients like quaternium-15 by J&J in its baby shampoos. This is a type of carcinogen and hence J&J should assure to minimize and if possible even completely eliminate the use of such ingredients going forward. J&J should also readily comply with all applicable safety regulations in China.
The company should issue a statement and take relevant steps to ensure that its products will not use any heavy metals and toxic materials in its products going forward.
