Out of the following tests, which one is the best child-behavior-rating test for your agency, a private academy? The BASC-2 Behavioral and Emotional Screening System, or the Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment, and why?
The Achenbach System of Emperical Based Assessment (ASEBA) is used for children above 2 years old. It is a child rating behavior test that assess children and adolescent behavior based directly on DSM-5. It includes items for parents, teachers and children themselves. It can be used for wide range and across multi culture context. The major draw back of this assessment test is that it measures only the maladaptive behaviors of children and does provide intervention techniques to deal with the maladaptive behaviors.
The Behavior Assessment System for Children, Second Edition (BASC-2) and Behavior Emotional Screening System (BESS) assess the adaptive and maladaptive behaviors in children from the of 2 to 21 years. It screens both the strenghts and weakness of children behavior. It helps to assess emotionally maladaptive behaviors of children and also suggest appropriate intervention techniques for them. It is applied for a wide range of emotional and behavior screening, which includes items for parents, teachers, the children themselves and their peers also. This screening system has validity subscales to examine reporting bias. Hence, this is the best child behavior rating test for my private agency.
