Define what an electrical potential is
Define what a current is
Define polarized
Why are cells described as polarized?
How do cells maintain their resting membrane potential?
Ans. Electrical potential:- It may be defined as the amount of work needed to move a unit charge from a reference point to a specific point inside the electrical field without the acceleration.
Ans. Current:- the flow of the charge either negative or positive from one place to another is called current.
Ans.Polarized:- It simply means the difference in the potential gredient between the two surface . For example, if there is difference between the two surface of the nerve, then they are said to be polarized.
Ans. Due to the presence of the unequal distribution of the ions outside and inside the cells, there is a concentration difference and potential difference between the two. That's why they are called as the polarized.
Ans. The cell membrane have the leaky channels for the transport of the Sodium and the potassium ions . They allows the transport of the Sodium and potassium ions across it. They are always transferred along the potential or the concentration gredient. So they maintains the resting membrane potential.
