The thyroid gland is an endocrine gland in a neck. It makes two hormone that are secreted by into the blood i.e.

1) Thyroxine {T3}

2) Triiodothyronine {T4}

Both. T3 and T4 have a similar effect on target cells. I most target tissue T4 is convert to T3.

They influence the metabolic rate, development and growth.

T3 production is regulated by negative feedback mechanisms.

Hypothalamus control the secretion if thyroid.

The thyroid cells that synthesized T4 and T3 take up circulating iodine from the blood and attached them to tyrosine residues in the protein thyroglobulin.
