A. Why does the same cold front typically produce more rain over Kentucky than over western Kansas?

B. Explain why the boundaries between neighboring air masses tend to be more distinct during the winter than during the summer.

Solutions

Expert Solution

A. Some of the reasons are as follows that the same cold front produces more rain over Kentucky than over western Kansas:

  • Because of the higher humidity in the region of Kentucky than Kansas.
  • It is also due to the mixture of the cold front with ice and with that brought rains over Kentucky while this mixture is not available in the region of western Kansas and many more.

B.  The boundaries between neighboring air masses tend to be more distinct during the winter than during the summer due to the following reasons:

  • Winter brought distinction due to the difference in temperature of air masses as compared to the summers.
  • While Summers limit the distinction because of harsh sun waves mixes the air masses that losses its boundary between neighboring air masses that's why winter tends to be more distinct than of summers regarding boundaries between neighboring air masses and many more.
