In 200 words or more, address the following question.
What were some possible historical changes that led to the epidemiological transition?
Epidemiological transition refers to the point in the history of our society when we started to experience a sudden rise in population and also in the rate of population growth. Several key factors were responsible for this but it was largely contributed by a massive reduction in global poverty and the innovations in public health.
Earlier due to wars, famines and epedemic outbreaks, the infant mortality rate used to be much higher than what it is now. Also, the life expectancy of an individual used to be a low lower than what it is at the current levels. The factors which have been mentioned earlier are responsible for the betterment in the situation. This improved situation has led to the epidemiological transition. In the 19th century, throughout Europe and the U.S. , the closed sewage system were employed so as to provide clean water to the public. This also drastically reduced the spread of diseases and epidemics and has become an essential for any civil society in the current times. Therefore, a reduction in global poverty, breakthroughs in the world of medical science, improved public healthcare systems and closed sewage system are the factors which have largely contributed to the epidemiological transition.
