1. How do sensory neurons encode stimulus modality (i.e. type of stimulus), stimulus location, stimulus intensity and stimulus duration? Provide the level of detail necessary to understand these concepts, for hearing specifically. How does your brain distinguish low vs. high frequency sounds?
Sensory neurons are those nerve cells of the Nervous System which are responsible to convert the external stimuli of the organisms involvement in the internal electrical impulse. This is the stimuli that can activate the motor neurons to get the contraction of the muscles. These are also known as neurones in the central nervous system which convert the specific form of stimulus.
Sensory neurons can encode the stimulus modality and symbol in two different ways. In a first way, the frequency of coding can be observed in which sensory neurons. This enhanced with the increased intensity. The second way the stimulus coding is observed in which the number of the different afferents and localization of stimulus is observed.The process of hearing possess the inner ear sound with the help of sensory neuron.One can hear the sound with help of spiral ganglionic neurones. These are ctivated with nervous system that is responsible to convert the external stimuli of the organism environment.
The brain can distinguished with the low and high frequency with the perception of pictures of those sounds. The high and low frequency are based on the auditory system in which it becomes easier to hear than others. Cochlea is that specialized cell with the spiral and number of lengths of stereocilia. This allowed hearing both high and low frequency sound.
