Concept:- CO2 is necessary to carry out respiratory drive. Because CO2 can only stimulate CNS . Oxygen can't.
When we hyperventilate it leads to excess was out of CO2 out of our body which leads to to decrease partial pressure of carbon dioxide in the blood. As we know that when carbon dioxide combines with water IT form carbonic acid which release H plus and this h + ion crosses the blood brain barrier and stimulate Central chemoreceptors present in CNS to maintain respiratory drive.
So when we hyperventilate CO2 is washout and respiratory drive of CNS also stop due to which there is a state of apnea. During the level of carbon dioxide drastically increases in the body which leads to respiratory acidosis because central nervous system take some time to detect this abnormal CO2 level in the body and to restart the respiratory drive.
