The organs of female reproductive system includes : External and Internal organs

External organs includes : External genitalia or the vulva. It contains mon pubis, labia minora, labia majora, vestibule, cliitoris, bartholins glands.

- Mons pubis is a fatty tissue usually covered by pubic hair.
- Labia majora is the outer fold that covers labia minora.
- Labia minora covers the vestibule.
- Vestibule is the region containing, urethral and vaginal openings.
- Cliitoris is an eretile tissue with coropora cavernosa that gets erected upon sexual stimulation.
- Bartholin's glands are located posterior to vaginal opening and secrete mucus for vaginal lubrication.

Internal organs include :

• Uterus : Uterus is also known as womb.
  - It has three layers : Perimertrium, myometrium and endometrium.
  - It contains two regions : Fundus (dome-shaped) and the body.
  - It is about 4 inches long and 2 inches wide.

• Ovaries : There are a pair of ovaries attached to the uterus suspended in pelvic cavity.
  - It is covered by germinal epithelium made up of simple cuboidal cells.
  - Tunical albuginea is a connetive tissue containing collagen that lines the internal surface of germinal epithelium.
  - Ovary contains ovarian follicles that becomes mature to release the femate gamete.
  
  
  
• Fallopian tube : They are also known as uterine tubes. It is the site for fertilization.
  - It is about 10 cm long.
  - The regions include : Infundibulum, ampulla and isthmus.
  - Infundibulum contains fimbrae (finger-like projections) at its end to collect the oocyte after ovulation.
  
  
  
• Cervix : It connects uterus and vaginal canal. It is 3.5 cm long.
  - It is the terminal part of uterus made up of fibroud tissue containing elastin fibers and collagen.
  
  
  
• Vaginaa : Vaginal canal is also known as birth canal.
  - It is about 3 inches long.
  - It is composed of mucosal layer covered by a smooth muscle layer.
  - Vaginal wall also contains collagen fibers.

Mammary glands are also considered accessory female reproductive organs that functions to secrete milk after delivery of the baby.
