Draw the block diagram of an adapter (also called “Regulated Power Supply”) and explain the function of each block. Explain briefly with proper sketches, how the diodes form the integral part of the adapter design.

Expert Solution

Transformer: the AC voltage 230Vrms supply given to transformer and that can be converted into level of the required DC output.the wave form is shown above,1:n where n is number of turns.

Rectifier : here full wave bridge rectifier is used to convert the level DC to the rectified DC as shown in above figure with some gliches and noise. so that can be avoided by filter.

Filter: it can filterise the given rectified DC voltge and after that the wave can be look like constant DC but have some little more alterations.it is also completely eliminated by regulator.

Regulator; it can completely avoid the little flctuations and give the constant and regulated DC output that can indicated in block in above figure.

DIODES FORM INTEGRAL PART: in above figure the diodes can form the rectifier and that is the main crucial part in regulated power supply.the diodes can form bridge rectifier and it can help in converting AC to level of DC.the rectifier is indicated in above figure with star(*)mark please observe.
