The following steps should be followed to design an Operation System for an Athletic Apparel Manufacture:-

1. THE RIGHT MINDSET:

To design an operating system for an Athletic Apparel Manufacturing unit, one should have the determined and right mindset. One should be clear in his mind to what range of Athletic Apparels he wish to manufacture. He should have a premised suitable for setting up a Manufacturing Unit.

2.         LISTING AND SETTING UP MACHINERY:

It is essential to plan and decide the size of manufacturing unit and the target market for the finished goods to be manufactured. Accordingly, list out the list machinery with the help of an expert (If you are not the expert, otherwise you yourself can design the layout and list out the machinery). Procure the machinery and get it installed.

3.         SPECIFICATION SHEET OF THE PRODUCT:

Now prepare the specification sheet for the range of products to be manufactured. You can also procure one sample of each product of its various sizes to prepare right samples to book orders and do right manufacturing. By preparing right specification we can reduce the wastage of raw material.

4. SOURCING OF RAW MATERIAL LIKE FABRIC AND ACCESSORIES:

This is a very important step for manufacturing. Sourcing a quality raw material at competitive rates is very important. To make the product at a price to achieve the competitive selling price it necessary to control the cost of raw material at minimum level with maintaining optimum quality.

5. PATTERNS, SAMPLING AND SIZE GRADING:

For fast and mass production it is mandatory to prepare Patterns for cutting and sewing the Apparels. Different patterns are required to be prepared for different models and sizes of Apparels. This step helps in reducing the wastage and time saving in the manufacturing of goods.

6. PREPARATION OF SAMPLES AND GOT IT APPROVED FROM THE CUSTOMERS:

This stage is known as sampling stage where few samples of all models and sizes are prepared and circulated in the market. After getting the samples approved, one sample is left with the client and one sample is kept at manufacturing unit, so that the mass production should be as per sample approved by the customer.

7. QUALITY CONTROL:

Quality control is a very essential department in the organization. The quality is checked for the size, stitching, fixing of accessories and resemblance with the sample. A right quality of the product creates long time reputation of the organization in the market and result in not only continuous orders from existing customers but also the organization gets orders from new customers through recommendation and reference list.

8. SHIPPING OR DISPATCH OF GOODS:

The most of the manufactures are having their account with reputed transport and courier organizations. This result in not only fetching a rate contract at a very competitive rates as well ensure good services by the transport / courier vendor to deliver goods safe and fast.

9. PAYMENT COLLECTION:

The organization should try work at payment terms like advance payment, cash on delivery, through irrevocable LC, Credit against Bank Guarantee. Payment collection at right time is the spinal cord of the organization, because the quick circulation of money ensures the business growth.
