Briefly describe the three phases of treatment for individuals who have acquired spinal cord injuries and the major emphasis of each phase.
Stage one is the acute spinal cord injury.
The acute spinal cord injury is usually completed at the hospital's trauma center from the moment a patient is first brought to the hospital. The primary goal of this treatment is to minimize the damage to the cervical. Prevent spinal cord and extra injuries as much as possible. The earlier this cervical spinal nerve injury is treated, the better it is for the patient to recover. Some example include the treatment of inflammation by corticosteroid. Spinal cord surgery to remove the impediments. Age of the patient, the extent of spinal cord injury, health of the person should be considered before the treatment.
Stage two is the rehabilitation treatment of spinal ord injury.
The spinal cord injury rehabilitation phase of treatment is usually the time when an SCI survivor begins to work to regain independence through rigorous physical and occupational therapy. However, this period is more challenging for people with cervical spinal nerve injuries which may be due to limited mobilisation.
The examples include balance treatment, strength and flexibility etc. The patent needs families support.
The third stage is ongoing rehabilitation and recovery.
It's a period after the rehabilitation phase. In this phase the survivor of the injury tries to maintain muscle mass and flexibility and makes a cordination in his activity
