Some people accuse college students of taking the attitude that “ignorance is bliss” when it comes to participation in public life. Analyze this claim using research findings as well as examples to support your answer.
"Ignorance is a bliss", this is a phrase which describes the fact that if someone is unaware about the troubles in his/her surroundings then those troubles can not harm that person. If a person does not care about the problems then no stress is being faced by that person.
This causes no mental fatigue. A careless attitude is being adopted in light of the matter that unawareness about an event causes a person to remain with more chilling attitude. This type of lack of knowledge may be useful in various situations because it causes no mental pain.
It keeps us away from sorrows so that we automatically become closer to happiness. This is also a fact that if we keep on ignoring various things simultaneously then a stage may come in our life where people will not respect us because of our careless attitude.
We may also develop a habit of ignoring everything. This will generate a fact of lack of seriousness. We will start running from problems. If we do not face problems then our personality stops growing. We find ourselves unable in founding solutions of various problems.
Our critical thinking ability may become degraded. This will degrade unique features of our personality and it may cause harm to our identity. There remains a need to adopt a balanced behaviour in respect of ignoring facts.
We should be sensible enough to choose the aspects which may trouble us and which may provide us happiness.
