Does a digital signature by itself provide authentication? Explain why or why not.
SOLUTION:- No, Digital signature can not provide authentication by itself.
EXPLANATION:- Because, Digital signature is generated by the document sender or possessor, It can merely provide the authentication as soon as it is examined by CA (i.e., Certificate Authority) or the true party's public key test in order to make sure that any kind of tampering with Digital signature has been done or not. In other words, Digital signature is reliable or not. Certificate Authorities issue digital signatures and perform as a trusted third party via acceptance, authentication, issuance & maintenance of digital certificates. The utilization of Certificate Authorities assists in avoiding the origination of counterfeit digital certificates. Therefore, we can say that Digital signature can not provide the authentication by itself.
