Think back to previous positions you have held and consider someone you thought was a good leader. Explain in your own words what makes him/her a good leader. How might these qualities assist a leader in changing the culture of an organization?

Team leader of my sales team had been a very good leader with all the qualities of a leader and a human. His following traits make him a good leader:

  • High level of determination/ ambition, enthusiasm to put efforts, and owns taking and driving initiatives, right Cognitive ability, Emotional quotient along with Intelligent Quotient
  • encouraging, observer, listener, coach and mentor
  • Delegating, directing, selling, participating, decision making, autocratic, makes the path clear and navigable and rewards to others

How might these qualities assist a leader in changing the culture of an organization:

Today’s competitive scenario is very dynamic. Strategies, short term goals, tactics, mechanisms, process, people keep changing vary rapidly, but long term goal of company- financial and non financial remains optimized. Hence, it is important and a need for managers to understand their junior team members about competency/ performance level/ obstacles, intelligence and knowledge etc. to complete allotted tasks in right time and right costs.

In order to achieve above, a leader who can understand his/ her fellow people, convert weak ones into strong ones and develop already strong ones into more strong and futuristic leaders, who can continue the same chain. It is like a nuclear chain reaction. Aligning right kind of people to right task is the Optimization of individuals’ and team productivity.

Therefore a forward thinking, sharing vision, setting examples, inspiring others, competent, honest and one who can change his/her leadership style to suit a particular situation is the right person who can evolve and lead the company culture into a better one.
